We drove out of Louisiana, through Mississippi and most of Alabama. We stopped for the night at DeSoto State Park in northeastern Alabama. It turned out to be a beautiful wooded park, in the mountains and filled with waterfalls. We all relaxed, glad to be back in the camper, our little home away from home.
In the morning, we packed up and explored a bit of DeSoto State Park. We walked the Azalea Cascades Trail, along a boardwalk beside a pretty stream. The boys enjoyed climbing on rocks along the trail, and we searched for (and found) a geocache.
Before hitting the road, we took a short trail to see Indian Falls. If you look carefully, you can see Craig peeking out from behind the tree next to the falls!
We headed north again, reluctantly leaving the beautiful park. We left Alabama (and immediately lost an hour!), then crossed through a few miles of Georgia and back into Tennessee. We all agreed we'd rather not stop during the day - we'll have to visit the underground lake some other time - because we wanted to get to our next campground in time to have dinner and enjoy the evening.
Our last day, we stopped for a view of the lake before we left, then headed for Delaware. We arrived home in time for dinner Sunday night. It was a wonderful trip, but too short!
