We got an early (for us!) start yesterday and drove over 300 miles from my cousin’s house in North Carolina to just past Augusta, Georgia.
We stopped for lunch in Dillon, SC, at a fabulous (and inexpensive!) local hangout called Southern Fried with an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring fried chicken. Everything was delicious!
We arrived at Mistletoe State Park to find this beautiful campsite right on the water. Just stunning views in all directions, maybe the best campsite we’ve ever had!

Here’s the view from our front door:
And the view from my bed that I woke up to this morning!
And the view last night with a full moon shining on the water:

Those pine trees smelled wonderful!
Best of all, five minutes after we arrived last night, my childhood best friend came to visit! She recently moved to Augusta and was the reason for this stop. After we set up the camper, we went to nearby Viva Villa Mexican restaurant in Thomson, GA, for a wonderful dinner and even better conversation. It was so good to see her and catch up!
Onto Alabama today!
